At PII, we can make an analogy to the Doctoral Program process to design a high performance organization.
The Zoom-Out. From system to supra-system.
A zoom-out can represent going out of the organization. This is a zoom at the ecosystem in which the company participates, an analysis of the local, regional, national and international arenas, and the opportunities and threats set by clients (markets) to be served; stakeholders to satisfy; economic, social, cultural and political environment in which to develop and operate; competitors to benchmark and outperform; and, financial, intellectual, human, materials, equipment and technology resources to deploy in order to design, produce and deliver “irresistible” products and services to conquer a targeted market. An analysis of our system in the context of the supra-system, will lead us to the strategic plan, which effectively executed, will get us to obtain Mega and Macro goals.
The Zoom In. Execution Designed for Higher Performance
The zoom-in can represent the detailed design and management processes of organizations that add Value. We can get to this by using the Anatomy of Performance technology to engineer performance that connects Mega to Macro to Micro objectives. To do so, we have to identify the value chain processes (those that will produce the products and services with which we intend to satisfy customers); we will then “zoom” deeper and deeper breaking the processes into sub-processes, tasks and sub-tasks, until we get clear on how to consistently produce the planned process outputs that will lead us to the desired organizational and societal outcomes.

Those 8 minutes of the video went so fast, yet ver...

Those 8 minutes of the video went so fast, yet very slow. The first part of the animated video made me think in a very philosophical way as the camera zoomed out on it's way through the universe that suddenly I forgot what I needed to answer by watching the video. As the camera zoom was back on Earth where the kid is paddling in a river, I remembered why I was watching the video.

When you watch a whole project as a universe, you can see a lot of things, things that almost everyone can see. These things seem like priority at first glance. You work so hard to solve all the problems that appear at first instance that you forget what the core of the project or investigation is. The key for a successful project is to look at things from the inside, start where it all began. Searching for the roots of what you're doing will make it clearer when it comes to solving a problem. When you watch from the inside, all of the external will solve itself. Though it sounds very psychological, I think this applies to every project you set out. Want to embark on a business? Why don't you first look at how's the market working or has worked through the years? What has make it so successful? Which are its lows and highs?.

This video is very illustrative for me to understa...

This video is very illustrative for me to understand and to make understand others in the organization, various elements of planning performance.
